On the afternoon of March 16th, under the guidance of the Municipal Investment Promotion Center and the District Investment Promotion Office, the District Investment Promotion Center actively responded to and implemented the strategic cooperation established at the Shanghai Global Investment Promotion Conference by organizing the “Invest Shanghai · Global Tour” Shanghai Visit by the Swiss-Chinese Economic Association Delegation · Pudong Special Event.
Comprehensive Scenario Experience InitiativeThe event adopted a format that combined immersive urban and industrial scenario experiences in Pudong, introductions to Pudong’s industrial service functions, and Sino-Swiss enterprise exchanges and matchmaking. This allowed the Swiss-Chinese Economic Association delegation to gain a firsthand, immersive experience of Pudong’s high-standard urban environment and innovative ecosystem. Under the arrangements of the District Investment Promotion Center, the delegation visited Qian Tan Center, Zhangjiang Robot Valley, and the China-Switzerland International Concept Certification Center, immersing themselves in Pudong’s urban, industrial, and innovation landscapes.
At the Sino-Swiss Enterprise Exchange and Communication Meeting, representatives of innovative Swiss enterprises and industry associations engaged in in-depth exchanges with relevant departments in Pudong, representatives of “Win-Win Pudong Partners,” as well as representatives from science and innovation platforms and enterprises. The discussions focused on areas such as digital technology, low-carbon sustainable technology, and professional services, jointly exploring new opportunities for Sino-Swiss technological innovation and industrial collaboration.
Focusing on Science and Innovation Ecosystem ServicesThe Zhangjiang Science and Technology Construction Office presented Swiss enterprises with an introduction to the practice of building the science and technology service system in Zhangjiang Science City. They provided a detailed overview of Zhangjiang’s construction of a “rainforest-style innovation ecosystem” and its full-chain service for the transformation of hard-tech achievements, covering the stages of “concept validation—pilot scaling—incubation acceleration.” This initiative concretely translates the objectives of “Shanghai cultivating a first-class innovation environment” and “focusing on enhancing science and technology services,” as outlined at the Global Investment Promotion Conference, into practical efforts to attract and serve foreign-invested science and technology innovation enterprises.
The Pudong Talent Service Center provided a detailed interpretation of Pudong’s various measures to support youth talent in innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as the “Pearl Online” one-stop service platform. They also introduced immigration facilitation measures such as the “International Talent Post Station” and the “Confirmation Letter for Foreign High-Level Talents.”
The person in charge of the China-Switzerland International Concept Validation Center introduced the center’s functional positioning. Relying on the resources of major Swiss and European enterprises, the center focuses on cutting-edge fields such as biomedicine, synthetic biology, and micro-nano electronics. It aims to establish a mechanism for the cross-border transformation of scientific and technological achievements, accelerate the localization and transformation of key common and frontier technologies from Europe in Shanghai, aggregate resources of international high-level talent and innovation and entrepreneurship projects, and serve Pudong’s high-level reform and opening-up as well as the construction of an international science and technology innovation center.
Bridging Mountains and Seas, Pursuing Pragmatic Cooperation
Zhou Bin, Executive Director of the Swiss-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, stated that Shanghai’s economic scale is now approaching that of Switzerland as a whole, with a growth rate over four times faster. The institutional opening-up of Pudong and Switzerland’s innovation advantages are highly complementary. As a Shanghainese who started his journey from Pudong, he is willing to serve as a bridge between his “two hometowns” to promote the solid implementation of pragmatic cooperation between China and Switzerland.
During the roadshow session for Swiss enterprises, several European companies including Swiss Oxygen Solutions AG, Impac Ecology Group, Huanming Co., Ltd., Yaka Jewelry Company, Swiss Braun Law Firm, and Oprex AG shared their projects.
