On 13th November 2023, Chilean local time, the\u201cChina-Chile Innovation Centre\u201d was inaugurated in the former Congress Hall of Chile, which marks the in-depth cooperation between China and Chile in the field of innovation. During the ceremony, Juan Pablo Letelier, President of the Andean Parliamentary Consortium’s School of Government, Li Yue from the Economic and Commercial Section of the Chinese Embassy in Chile, Xia Zhenghai, President of China-Latin America Coalition (CHILAC), Juan Parra, Executive President of CHILAC, and Pamela Goygovich, President of Chilean Lithium Chamber of Commerce, attended the event and delivered speeches, and more than 50 Chinese and Chilean institutions and enterprises participated in the event. Shanghai Small and Medium Enterprises Development Service Centre organised a delegation of Shanghai specialised enterprises to participate in the event.<\/p>\n

The\u201cChina-Chile Innovation Centre\u201d is an overseas service platform established by the China-Latin America Alliance A-CHILAC and Shanghai Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Service Agency (Creative City) under the coordination of Shanghai Committee of Zhigong Party, and it is also the third innovation centre established by Creative City overseas.<\/p>\n

During the event, Mr. Xia Zhenghai, President of China-Latin America Alliance, warmly welcomed the delegation of Shanghai Specialty, Specialty and New Enterprises to Chile, stressed the significance of the inauguration of the China-Chile Innovation Centre, and looked forward to the cooperation in various fields such as scientific and technological innovation, enterprise, academia and culture, and called on the two sides to join hands to create a better future together.<\/p>\n

Juan Parra, Executive President of the China-Latin America Alliance, introduced the background and planning of the China-China Innovation Centre, and believed that the establishment of the Centre is a promotion of civil diplomacy for the construction of the \u2018One Belt, One Road\u2019 between China and Latin America, and looked forward to a new stage of cooperation between China and Latin America.<\/p>\n

Juan Pablo Letelier, President of the Andean Parliamentary Consortium’s School of Government, Chairman of A-CHILAC’s Latin American Advisory Board, former Vice President of the Senate of the Chilean Congress, Fernando Lagos Basaldo, Rector of the Universidad de la Rep\u00fablica de Chile, as well as Wang Leyi, General Manager of Creative City, who is also a member of the delegation, emphasised the strategic importance of the CICIC to both sides and shared their expectations and opportunities for cooperation with China, as well as the importance of the Centre. expectations and opportunities for co-operation, and were looking forward to future co-operation.<\/p>\n

Delegation member Xiao Qiaoling, Vice President of Shanghai Biren Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. introduced the company profile at the ceremony. Yang Hui, Vice President of Boreton Technology Co. and Zhang Mengjiao, Director of Science and Technology Finance Department of Shanghai Longchuang Automotive Design Co., Ltd. conducted in-depth docking with Chilean mining enterprises and platform institutions to discuss the cooperation opportunities, and initially reached the willingness to cooperate.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

In the future, the CIIC Innovation Centre will also organise special events to promote more cooperation opportunities between SMEs in China and Chile in their respective fields. In order to support Shanghai’s specialised enterprises, the Centre will provide more personalised and targeted support to help them give full play to their strengths in cooperation and achieve faster growth.<\/p>\n
